TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF.

Though crucified a victim, Jesus Christ rose triumphant a Victor and ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of God the Father, the place of the fulness of authority. With this Divine authority, God the Father confirms Jesus's power over death, darkness and evil. Jesus Christ, therefore, charges us under the same authority to go making disciples of all nations and baptising them. You and I share in this authority to the extent that we possess the Holy Spirit.

NEW MONTH'S BLESSINGS FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST

In the Hebrew scriptures (the Old Testament) the number 8 sometimes is used symbolically to represent that which is a surplus or a complete completion of a thing. With the number 7 being the number of completion, perfection or fullness, 8 can be best understood as still part of the whole just greater than the whole. For example, the basket is full of grains, and then there is a surplus...
