TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF.                                 

It's better to obey God than obey men; this was the response of the apostles to the Jewish elders and leaders after being flogged and warned never to preach in the name of Jesus Christ. Beloved child of God, persecutions, afflictions, threats, trials and challenges are opportuned moments to assert and affirm our belief and faith in God. We must, if we truly are the children of God, stand our ground to practise and defend our faith and belief both in good and bad times. Our life of virtue must be in season and out of season.

NEW MONTH'S BLESSINGS FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST

In the Hebrew scriptures (the Old Testament) the number 8 sometimes is used symbolically to represent that which is a surplus or a complete completion of a thing. With the number 7 being the number of completion, perfection or fullness, 8 can be best understood as still part of the whole just greater than the whole. For example, the basket is full of grains, and then there is a surplus...
