TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF.                                 

Just as crops compete with the weeds for soil nutrients and sunlight so too, once the Word of God is planted in us, the enemy plants weeds to compete with and possibly suppress the Word of God so it doesn't bear fruits. Nevertheless, our consistency in living out the Word of God in virtue makes us overcome all forms of opposition of weeds aimed at suppressing, suffocating and terminating the Word of God in our life, thereby aborting the life of virtue in and around us. Amidst all opposition, dear child of God, keep firm in virtue for God will certainly vindicate the upright.

NEW MONTH'S BLESSINGS FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST

In the Hebrew scriptures (the Old Testament) the number 8 sometimes is used symbolically to represent that which is a surplus or a complete completion of a thing. With the number 7 being the number of completion, perfection or fullness, 8 can be best understood as still part of the whole just greater than the whole. For example, the basket is full of grains, and then there is a surplus...
