TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF.                         

Greed and selfishness are indicative of lack of faith in Divine Province, just as contentment demonstrates faith in God and in His ability to look after us. Jesus Christ teaches us today to ask and trust God for our daily bread. This will help us stay contented, fulfilled, and free from many sinful inclinations and tendencies. The desire to acquire and hoard resources for decades and centuries in the quest to secure our future all by ourselves and outside of God leaves us greatly vulnerable to sin and vices. Be contented with asking God each day for your daily bread and trust Him for same.

NEW MONTH'S BLESSINGS FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST

In the Hebrew scriptures (the Old Testament) the number 8 sometimes is used symbolically to represent that which is a surplus or a complete completion of a thing. With the number 7 being the number of completion, perfection or fullness, 8 can be best understood as still part of the whole just greater than the whole. For example, the basket is full of grains, and then there is a surplus...
