TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF.                            

Every good gift comes from God. Just like the priests, every human person is created by God for a purpose and entrusted with a specific mission. In your call/gift lies your God-given honour. Your call/gift is meant to be employed judiciously in the service of God and humanity. Unfortunately, when ruled by the senses we become slaves rather than masters to our gifts, positions and possessions as a result of which we end up serving them rather than employing them in our humble service to God and humanity. The resultant effect of this is the societal ills we suffer today. However, when we humble ourselves in employing our resources, gifts, positions and possessions at the service of God and humanity God himself exalts us the more and together we build up a healthy church and human society, the body of Christ, where peace, progress, sustainable development, wellness, justice and equity flourish and blossom.

NEW MONTH'S BLESSINGS FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST

In the Hebrew scriptures (the Old Testament) the number 8 sometimes is used symbolically to represent that which is a surplus or a complete completion of a thing. With the number 7 being the number of completion, perfection or fullness, 8 can be best understood as still part of the whole just greater than the whole. For example, the basket is full of grains, and then there is a surplus...
