TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF.                             

St. Augustine says that "our heart is restless until it rests in God." At Ash Wednesday God invites us to a life of rest, peace and fulfilment through reconciliation with Him. The flesh is but dust and shall certainly return to dust. The soul, which is the life force animating the body/flesh, shall return to God at the end of our earthly life. It's only when we're truly reconciled with God and live in full communion with Him that we find the peace, rest and fulfilment that we seek. Therefore, be reconciled to God, for this is the moment of salvation.

NEW MONTH'S BLESSINGS FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST

In the Hebrew scriptures (the Old Testament) the number 8 sometimes is used symbolically to represent that which is a surplus or a complete completion of a thing. With the number 7 being the number of completion, perfection or fullness, 8 can be best understood as still part of the whole just greater than the whole. For example, the basket is full of grains, and then there is a surplus...
